Just the Man,
the Meat and
the Fire...
The HalfSauced Barbeque story begins with an innocent college graduation gift for Randy; a Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. His first offerings from the pit were pretty rough; some would even say inedible. Over time, his skills improved and before long, family, friends, and co-workers were asking him to cook for different events.
One of Randy's co-workers convinced him to join their newly formed competition barbeque team, HalfSauced. Their first contest was in 1999 competing in the Laurie Hillbilly Cook-Off. Randy won fifth in brisket out of a field of about 45 teams. With that, the hook was set deep. A few years after the 2001 Tech Bubble Burst, Randy found himself without a job as an engineer at Intel. After 12 months of job searching, Andrea strongly encouraged hit to get off the couch "You have to do something!" His newfound hobby run-amok and the formation of HalfSauced Barbeque restaurant began. With another member of the barbeque team, the restaurant opened in July 2004. In May 2014, Randy and Andrea became the sole owners of the restaurant.
Randy has competed in many BBQ contents and has been awarded countless individual awards as well as several Grand Champions and Reserve Grand Champions. When time permits, he still enjoys loading up the trailer and heading to a competition. His passion for flavor and pride in his product is what brings you the BEST BBQ at the Lake.
